How Did I Get Interested In Graphic Design?

Hey, hey! I’m so excited to be posting again after such a long break. I truly hope I will be able to keep up with a better posting schedule. πŸ™‚

In today’s post I want to talk about what inspired me to begin exploring graphic design and how I got started. After learning the basics, I have been able to create a lot of fun stuff. It is a really fun hobby and can be an incredible way to make a little money if you get good at it too!

Also, I though it would be fun to share some of my designs starting from the first ever design I made and then a couple throughout the gallery up till now. It’s kind of funny to see how much I’ve changed and grown over my time learning and I look forward to seeing where else I can improve for the future. Okay, let’s get started!

My Little Story:

About two and half years ago, I signed up for Canva, a free graphic design program I had discovered online. I was SO EXCITED!!! I couldn’t wait to dive into the learning process and start creating my very own designs.

You see, before I even signed up for this program, I had been obsessed with printables of all kind; gorgeous, free, designs like wall art, checklists, planners, and calendars. I really enjoyed printing off all these cute resources from the internet and would then proceed to fill them up with my school routine, chore list, etc.

One of the first design I ever made. Wow! I was really going for a bright look here! πŸ™‚

Now, this was great and all. I just loved having all these printables at my disposal. However, I began to ask myself the question, “How do all these awesome bloggers and designers make all these fun printables?” I wanted to be apart of the fun and create some of my own that were exactly what I needed!

Soon after, I was exploring everywhere to find out how I could make these printables for myself and become a creative maker myself. To be honest, I can’t remember how long or where I looked to find this information, but eventually, I came across one of my best friends in the design world: Canva.

(Haha! This post is not sponsored by Canva if you’re wondering. I just love the tool so much!)

One of the first times I created a “mockup” using a photo from Unsplash and putting my design on it. πŸ™‚

Anyway, I discovered Canva, quickly signed up, and began my own creative journey in the world of graphic design. Many tutorials later, I was beginning to design some little projects for myself. There was a whole world of potential and so many buttons, sizes, and tools to use!

Now, I am still loving graphic design and printables. I’ve been able to create so many fun designs and continue to create today. Graphic design has been such a fun hobby and has also helped me in my blog and potential business ideas. I am still learning, growing, and loving every moment! I’ll admit, I’m a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to my designs. πŸ™‚

A more recent design I created at the library. (A line from a David Crowder song called How He Loves.) πŸ™‚

I hope to share many more graphic design related posts and some of the projects I’ve created with you, but I thought this would be a fun post. Maybe this will inspire you to look into graphic design!
